Cumin has been native to the Nile Valley in Egypt for over 4,000 years. It is widely cultivated in hot regions such as the Eastern Mediterranean, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Morocco, North Africa, the Middle East, and China. This herbaceous plant belongs to the parsley (Apiaceae) family.
