Black Cumin

Black cumin, also known as Shahi Jeera, belongs to the parsley (Apiaceae) family. It is native to Asia and northern India, particularly Kashmir. The term “Shahi Jeera” was historically used by royalty during the Mughal Empire, meaning “royal cumin” or “imperial cumin.” Though less common than regular cumin, it is still widely used in Indian households.
Tasting Notes: Floral, with a strong, piney aroma when roasted and crushed. The taste is peppery, slightly pungent, and nutty, similar to caraway.
